I never took a class from John but he did change my life. When I was in high school he came to speak to our class and from that moment on my life would never the same. I sat transfixed on his every word. I looked at his fantastic images and listed to the passion in his voice and at that moment I decided that I was going to become a photojournalist. Up until that point I was being pulled in a bunch of different ways. I loved photography but I didn't understand where it fit in the puzzle of my life. John White helped me find the missing piece allowing me to realize my life's work. Years later we found ourselves standing together alone in a back hallway in the Astronomy at the University of Iowa waiting for Michael Dukakis to exit the building. I told him my story and thanked him for the inspiration. He was gracious and kind in response. Wonderful Video Jon!
