Ning is a pretty cool platform. If you're new to Ning, here are a couple of things for you to explore:
First, this is both a group site and an individual site. All of you have your own personal home page here and can put up your own blog, your own videos, and your own pictures. If you click on "My Settings" in the hello box at top right, you can personalize your url to your name or whatever; you can control what email you get from here; you can control your privacy settings; and you can get the address to post stuff by phone.
You can also make it look like you want -- go to "manage" on the tab at the top and you can pick your theme, colors, and typefaces.
At the moment, I've got it set up so anything you blog goes into the group blog on the front page, but as traffic picks up, I'll probably move it into a side column.
I'm hoping the forums become the same rich source of information and discussion we've had on the Yahoo! NewspaperVideo group, but both will stay alive. The forums have a blog interface, so you can add photos and control the appearance just like on a blog.

One other minor thing: we've got 10gb storage with a 100gb bandwidth limit before it starts costing money. If you have a way to embed your video from another site, please use that option first. (Hey, I work for a newspaper & gotta be cheap!)

Great idea, Chuck.
Couple of requests - can you enable the Gadgets, please and add the Events module? That way we could share training events and seminars.
I love the NING sites.
FYI: I started one a few months ago for VJ students who go through the Camp Video Journalism seminars produced by the Visual Editors charity.
